1. Opening and Organization
1.1. 12th Meeting of SAH Women in Architecture Affiliate Group Leaders—Anna Sokolina
Objectives: To commence the Annual Program in celebration of Women’s History Month, recognize accomplishments, honor frontrunners, and discuss plans and projects.
Annual celebration of Women’s History Month is the SAH WIA AG staple program, and the International Women’s Day March 8 assembly is a focal point, a contribution to SAH WiA community and the SAH mission. The 2024 Theme celebrates Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.
Gratitude: to All for commitment, to SAH for providing the Google platform for AGs events, to Rebecca Siefert for organizing this meeting, to Wanda Bubriski, Maristella Casciato, and Barbara Opar for advice and recommendations, to SAH Board Officers and Staff for attentive communications and support.
Women’s History Month is celebrated in March in the U.S., U.K., and Australia, and in October in Canada, tracing its beginnings to Woman’s Day observed in NYC 1909. Since 1977, March 8 has been annually commemorated by the U.N. General Assembly. In 1987 the U.S. Congress passed the Public Law, and since 1995 U.S. presidents issue annual proclamations designating the month of March as Women’s History Month.
